 Weekly Call to Action

Small, seemingly insignificant action over time by many people can have a huge impact on Arizona and the United States. The heart of Arizona Women of Action’s mission is to help you find ways to take small action, consistently, so you have a voice in the direction of both our state and our country - keeping conservative values as the foundation. Use this as your go-to resource for finding the most important actions for the week!

Ways to Protect Kids at the Library this Summer

Going to the library with your kids is a great way to keep their minds active and to get out of the heat. But parents must stay vigilant at the library to ensure that kids are reading books that align with their values.

Follow these steps when you head to the library this summer to protect your children’s innocence and mind.

  • Review this article on why it’s essential to stay vigilant at the library.

  • Read this week’s blog on steps we’ve taken to help protect kids from inappropriate content

  • At Maricopa County Libraries, enroll in the Parental Choice OPT-OUT program to set custom restrictions to protect your kids from explicit or age-inappropriate content. Recommended categories to opt out of are:

    • Juvenile sexual health/sexual education

    • Graphic Novels (especially Teen/Young Adult graphic novels)

    • Social Science materials that cover gender, sexuality, or identity topics

    • Young Adult (YA/TEEN) Fiction

    • Any Health or Body-related books in Juvenile sections

    • Adult category materials

  • Remember: Even picture books can sometimes contain inappropriate material. We recommend never letting children browse shelves unsupervised.

  • Link your child’s library account to yours (at Maricopa County Libraries) to monitor the books they check out.

  • For digital platforms (Libby, Hoopla & Kanopy), turn on parental controls, age restrictions & “Kids Only” modes immediately.

Get Ready for America's 250th Birthday!

July 4, 2026, marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence—a once-in-a-generation opportunity to celebrate our nation’s founding and teach the next generation about the principles of liberty, self-government, and civic responsibility. Now is the time to start planning how your family, church, school, or community group will participate.

Explore educational resources and patriotic programs and learn about the nationwide America 250 initiatives. Here in Arizona, the Arizona America250 Commission is organizing events, historical exhibits, community celebrations, and the Passport250 program that encourages families to explore Arizona’s unique contributions to the American story. Communities across the state—including Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Wickenburg, and Tucson—are already hosting America 250 activities, with many more planned throughout the year. Let’s use this historic milestone to deepen our appreciation for America’s founding ideals, honor those who secured our freedoms, and inspire future generations to preserve them.

Father God, we thank You for the children of Arizona and the children of this nation. They are precious in Your sight, and we thank You that their innocence and future are fiercely protected by You. Your Word says, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves” (Proverbs 31:8). We thank You for awakening parents, grandparents, teachers, school leaders, librarians, pastors, and lawmakers. Give them courage to speak up and engage, wisdom to discern, and conviction to stand for what is right.  Expose every effort that seeks to harm our children or undermine the role of parents. Let families be informed and equipped to make decisions that protect our children. We thank You that parents will not remain on the sidelines in this hour. Stir them to pray, to engage, and to take action. May Arizona become a model for our nation, demonstrating what is possible when families, communities, and leaders work together to protect children.  In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen!
