Crisis + Government Aid = BIGGER Crisis

One of my favorite Ronald Reagan quotes is, ““The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: ‘I'm from the Government, and I'm here to help.’”
There’s another quote that adds light to this same basic point: “There is a way which seems right to a person, but its end is the way of death.” (Prov 14:12)
Look around and we see plenty of crises—homelessness, drug abuse, failing schools, etc. They never get solved, and often spiral into bigger crises--especially when money and bureaucrats get thrown onto them. Often the reason we get caught in the deadly—and costly—effects of big government, is because well-meaning people (and yes, those who gain politically or financially) are not addressing the true causes to get real solutions.
Bureaucrats far away from the problem, using other people’s money (taxes) have a vested interest in keeping the problem going, along with their money and jobs. A better way to solve human crises is to involve local people who care and have a personal or community vested interest, using LOCAL resources and a community of families, churches and charities. Plus, it honors the precious human identity of those suffering—the only way to bring true healing.

Better Education Does NOT Require MORE Money—just common sense.
Mississippi has reduced spending to between $10-$13k per pupil (as opposed to $21k+ in ‘blue’, big government states), and scores have risen from 49th to 9th in the nation in 13 years. They did this by switching to a pre-1990s phonics curriculum instead of flooding a bad system with more money.
We need to see the patterns. Impersonal, government-led ‘solutions’ don’t work. They don’t address the real causes of human suffering, and those they’re trying to “help” are often seen as statistics rather than people with God-given worth. This means WE the People need to step in and give real help to those in our own community.
